We planned it that weekend because family was going to be in town, but it ended up that everyone kinda bailed the last min. We had several friends we wished could have been there and missed seeing, but in the end it made the blessing mean that much more to us because the blessing was truly the highlight of the whole day. I gave Jeffrey some pretty high expectations for the blessing. I felt bad doing it, but he's so shy, I just didn't want Max to have a 3 min blessing! What Jeffrey ended up sharing with Max was something I'll never forget. The spirit filled the room immediately and my relationship with my son, my husband, and my Father-in-Heaven changed for the better. I can't put into words how much that moment meant to our family, other than to say it really was a highlight of my life. We waited and prayed, and struggled to bring max into our family and his blessing was a celebration of all the heartache leading up to that point. I feel so very blessed in my life right now! I married up, I married the most perfect man for me, and I couldn't be happier knowing Max has such a great man to look up to as his father.
My mom made Max's blessing outfit. She crocheted this amazing sweater that was a titch too big because Max is a titch too small.
It was perfect.
He looked darling in his crochet booties and sweater and his silk suit under the sweater. Both of our mothers made food, helped set up and clean up, and have been such a strength to me. We are so blessed to have such great women as Max's grandma's!
My best friend Erin and her family came up from Henderson, Nevada just for Max's blessing. Her sacrifice and time made us feel so loved, and we were so glad they came! I not only wish we lived in the same city, but on the same street! She is a saint for coming, we love you Oldfields!
Our Sunday school class came, probably because we told them they could either go to the other class or come to our house for food... they are teenagers, so the answer wasn't really hard to come up with! We love these kids and are so grateful for such an awesome calling.
Max you were blessed with an obedient heart, with a desire to serve others. With an understanding of your Heavenly Father's love for you, and for your neighbor. You were blessed to love your parents, to have a desire to serve a mission and to marry in the temple, but most of all you were blessed to have a strong testimony of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Max your parents love you, we are so thrilled to have you as our son!
